Information on the use of cookies and similar technologies

The specific purpose of this policy on the use of cookies is to illustrate the types of cookies installed on the www.veraitalia.it web portal and the purposes and methods of their use, as well as to provide information on how the User can change, even at a later date, his or her preferences regarding the use of cookies by the web platform.

1. Use of cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are text strings that are sent by the server and are stored inside a terminal device in the User’s availability (so-called active identifiers), when the User navigates on certain websites and web platforms. They are used by server-side web applications to store and retrieve client-side information.
Cookies are divided into ‘technical’, ‘analytical’ and ‘profiling’ cookies. In turn, cookies can be divided into ‘first party’ cookies (i.e. set by the Data Controller) and ‘third party’ cookies (i.e. set by a third party other than the Data Controller).

Similar functions may be performed by other tools that, while using a different technology (so-called passive identifiers), enable processing operations similar to those carried out by means of cookies.

The information encoded in cookies may include personal data, such as an IP address, user name, unique identifier or e-mail address, but may also contain non-personal data. Therefore, the use of cookies and similar technologies by the web portal is carried out in compliance with the new European legislation introduced by Regulation 2016/679/EU (hereinafter also “GDPR”) and Directive 2002/58/EC (on electronic communications), as well as with the reference Italian legislation (Legislative Decree no. 196/2003, hereinafter also “Privacy Code”).

The web portal uses the following cookies and similar technologies:

1.1. Technical cookies

The main purpose of cookies is to make online navigation more user-friendly.

They are also used to carry out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of a service to provide this service. They are also used for session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations of the User’s browser.

Technical cookies are distinguished in turn into ‘session’ and ‘permanent’ cookies: both are stored on the User’s device, but the former are deleted when the browser is closed, while the latter remain stored until they expire.
The web portal uses ‘session’ technical cookies for the operation of navigation within the online pages, such as storing preferences and temporary information of the User so that he/she does not have to re-enter the information each time he/she changes web page. These cookies are deleted once the browser is closed.

The use of session cookies (which, in any case, are not stored persistently on the User’s computer and are automatically deleted as soon as the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the transmission of certain data consisting of random numbers generated by the server, which identify the specific session and are necessary to enable safe and efficient exploration.

The web portal in some cases also uses ‘permanent’ technical cookies to store the User’s choices.

Persistent cookies are stored on the User’s browser and allow the User’s actions in a web portal to be remembered. Persistent cookies can be used for a variety of purposes, including remembering User preferences (e.g. the language of the web portal) when using a web portal.

Permanent cookies are stored until deleted by the user or until they expire.

1.2. Analytical cookies

The online web portal uses first-party and third-party analytical cookies. These cookies are used to track the User’s browsing preferences and to collect statistical data (e.g. Google Analytics).

As a general rule, analytical cookies used by the web portal are equated with technical cookies for which consent is not required when they are only used under the following conditions: to produce aggregate statistics in relation to a single portal; at least the fourth component of the IP address is masked for third-party cookies; third parties refrain from combining analytical cookies with other processing or passing them on to other third parties. However, in some cases, third parties are permitted to produce statistics with data from multiple website, web and app domains that can be traced back to the same publisher or business group and that allow for user identification.

1.3. Profiling cookies

The web platform does not use profiling cookies.

Profiling cookies have the purpose of tracing specific actions or recurring behavioural patterns in the use of the offered functionalities (patterns) back to specific identified or identifiable subjects in order to group the different profiles within homogeneous clusters of different sizes.

Profiling cookies are used to track the User’s navigation and create a profile of him/her based on his/her behaviour, which can eventually be used to send advertising messages to the User’s device.
Third-party profiling cookies are cookies from other websites or advertising circuits (e.g. Google AdSense, etc.) that can be sent to the User’s device following navigation on the web portal.

1.4. Social and similar cookies

The web portal also uses third-party social network plug-ins in order to allow the User to share content on different social networks. They allow the User to interact via social networks (e.g. the ‘share’ function).

The portal also uses social widgets, i.e. buttons or icons, provided by third-party social media providers, which allow the user to interact with social media services by accessing them when visiting a web page from a PC or mobile phone. Social widgets may collect browsing data that may be received from third parties that provide the widgets.

1.5. Other tracking technologies

The web platform uses the Late point plugin to take orders, manage the services offered and the related booking system. More information on Late point can be found at www.latepoint.com.
In addition, the platform uses Stripe to handle online payments of users who purchase a service. More information on Stripe can be found at www.stripe.com.

2. Purpose of the use of cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar technologies are used to ensure the proper functioning of the web portal and to guarantee its security and integrity, as well as to improve the browsing experience (technical cookies).

In addition, some of them have the purpose of tracking the user’s browsing preferences and for the collection of related statistical data (analytical cookies).

Some cookies also allow the user to interact with social networks while using the portal (social cookies).

Finally, some third-party cookies are intended to track the user’s browsing preferences in order to show him/her personalised ads (third-party profiling cookies), but such cookies are not currently active on the web platform.

3. Consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies

The data subject’s consent is required for analytical cookies, social cookies and (third-party) profiling cookies. When analytical cookies are equated with technical cookies, consent is not required.

Consent is given or not given the first time the web portal is accessed, by choosing from the options in the banner that automatically appears in the web portal the first time it is accessed, and can be changed by the user via their browser settings.

4. Management of cookies and similar technologies

4.1. Managing technical cookies

Technical cookies cannot be deactivated as they are necessary for the correct and safe use of the web portal. Almost all browsers are set to accept technical cookies; however, the User can independently change the configuration of his browser or make use of specific add-ons and block them: in this case, the use of the web portal and the use of certain services may be restricted.

4.2. Management of analytical cookies

The installation of analytical cookies is left to the free choice of the User, by means of the “accept all”/”reject all”/”more options” option, present in the banner that automatically appears in the web portal the first time he/she accesses it, or by means of the User’s choice to modify/deactivate cookies through the navigation preferences of his/her browser.

4.3. Management of social and profiling cookies

When present, the installation of profiling cookies is left to the free choice of the User, by means of a specific option present in the banner that automatically appears in the web portal the first time he/she accesses it, or by means of the User’s choice to modify/deactivate the cookies for which consent is required through the navigation preferences of his/her browser.
There are currently no profiling cookies on the web platform.

For manual changes to the cookie settings, please refer to the links of the individual browsers most commonly used:

5. Cookie policy updates

This policy may be subject to updates, as a result of changes in the regulations governing cookies, or in the event of changes and improvements to the web portal.

Any changes shall be promptly notified to the User and an acceptance thereof shall be required at the first subsequent access of the web portal.
