Welcome! I’m Emiliano, and together with my brother-in-law Domenico, we carry on our family’s winemaking business, founded by Egidio, my father-in-law and Domenico’s father. Gioia al Negro, the name of our winery, brings together history and heart. Gioia is our family name, while Negro pays tribute to Lagonegro, our hometown, and the deep, rich colour of Aglianico del Vulture, a native grape variety of Basilicata that we use to produce one of our wines. Our winemaking story began with humble roots, in our grandfather’s old cellar, where he made wine in a garage beside his family-run trattoria. The business later grew under Egidio, who began supplying wine to local restaurants. After spending years away, my wife and I decided to return to our roots, determined to carry on our family’s winemaking tradition and invest in this beautiful, lesser-known corner of Italy, full of untapped potential. Today, we’re proud to have breathed new life into our winery, crafting authentic wines that reflect tradition, craftsmanship, dedication and love. Every bottle holds a piece of our hearts, telling the story of our family and our homeland.
