Hello! We’re Monia, Ida and Carmela, and we share a passion that brought us together: the ancient art of the libbani—traditional ropes handcrafted from a wild Mediterranean grass. Inspired by this craft, lovingly passed down through generations of women along our coastline, we decided to bring it back to life to preserve its memory and safeguard this precious tradition. For centuries, weaving libbani was part of everyday life for the women who, while waiting for their fisherman husbands to return, gathered to work, chat and share stories. It was a time of connection, friendship and community. Today, we invite you to experience that same spirit, celebrating the women who transformed a simple blade of grass into a remarkable tradition of creativity, craftsmanship and heritage.
