Ciao, I’m Serena, and I welcome you to Colle Carosello, a land that has belonged to my family for generations. Allow me to introduce you to the Dottato fig, a fruit that has been part of the history and farming traditions of Calabria for centuries. What began as a desire to remain in Calabria and continue to cultivate the land of our family, my husband and I decided to focus on this particular fruit. Relying on the knowledge of the older women of the village, I learned the traditional ways of preserving and transforming figs, the recipes and techniques passed down through generations. For example, weaving dried figs with myrtle which was once a valuable source of energy during long days working in the fields. Today, I share this passion with my daughters and we look forward to your visit to share the traditions of our grandparents and great-grandparents, and to enjoy nature and the slow-pace of these age-old practices. See you for a sweet encounter among the fig trees.
